RDC26, Roblox Wallet, easier publishing, terrain upgrades, and discovery video
Roblox announced a lot at once. These are the five changes we think are most likely to affect how creators publish, earn, build, or get discovered, plus what is available now versus what is still on the roadmap.
1. RDC26 is less one feature than a new creator roadmap
Roblox used RDC26 to announce changes across publishing, payments, engine tooling, avatars, analytics, and creator workflows. Roblox also said average daily users reached 123 million last quarter, game visits were up 55% year over year, and creators earned about $1.7 billion through DevEx over the cited period.
Why it matters: creators should not treat every RDC announcement as something to rebuild around immediately. Several changes are staged rollouts or early-access features. The more useful approach is to separate what changes current workflow now from what belongs on a watchlist.
LobbyPick take: the publishing and payout announcements are the two areas with the clearest near-term operational effect. Terrain and engine additions are bigger creative opportunities, but they depend more on rollout timing.
2. Roblox is reducing some of the friction around publishing
Roblox says creators under 18 can now use facial age estimation instead of ID verification for this part of the publishing process. It also cut the refundable expedited-review fee for Roblox Kids & Select from 100,000 to 50,000 Robux.
For September, Roblox also outlined asset iteration changes, early testing with up to 10 age-checked friends of similar ages, a simplified publishing flow, and moderation changes intended to reduce bans for well-intentioned creators. A lower Highly Engaged Player threshold for Kids & Select is planned for November.
Who this affects: developers preparing new experiences or trying to reach broader age audiences. For small teams, the early-testing change could be especially useful because it creates a more official path to get feedback before launch.
What to do: do not assume every September item is already available to every account. Check the publishing flow in Creator Hub before changing your launch process.
3. Roblox Wallet starts changing the DevEx roadmap in December
Roblox plans to begin rolling out Roblox Wallet in December 2026 to eligible US-based independent creators who are 18 or older. The Wallet is designed to receive cleared creator earnings in USD automatically on business days, with transaction reporting inside Creator Hub.
Roblox says DevEx will remain available during the transition, with a US transition planned through mid-2027. Support for groups, incorporated businesses, creators 13+ with parental consent, international regions, and the Roblox Card is planned later.
Why it matters: this is a business-operations change, not simply a new cash-out button. Daily payouts, detailed transaction records, and the ability to move funds on a creator's schedule could change accounting and cash-flow habits for larger creators.
Important limitation: earnings can still be subject to hold periods before becoming available, and the first rollout is limited. Most creators should treat this as a coming transition rather than something they can use today.
4. Terrain is getting object scattering, splines, projected decals, and more
Roblox's terrain roadmap includes object scattering, path splines, projected terrain decals, virtual texturing, and signed distance fields. Roblox says it is targeting early access for these features in late fall or winter.
Why it matters: these are tools for reducing repetitive environment work and building more detailed worlds without manually placing every object or faking every path and surface treatment.
What to do: unless you are joining early access, there is no reason to restructure a current project around these tools yet. For future environment-heavy projects, they are worth watching because they could materially change map-production workflow.
5. Gameplay videos are now part of Recommended For You on Home
Roblox says gameplay videos have fully rolled out in the Recommended For You area on Home. Approved videos uploaded through Creator Hub can play before a user joins the experience.
Why it matters: a game's first impression is no longer limited to icon, title, and thumbnail. A weak or confusing gameplay clip can now hurt understanding just as a strong clip can explain the core loop faster.
What to do: creators should show the actual core experience quickly instead of using a long logo intro or cinematic that hides what the player will do. LobbyPick will also start considering current discovery presentation when we explain why a game may be trending.
What LobbyPick will track next
We will keep this section selective. The next briefing will prioritize updates that change player discovery, game access, group play, creator economics, or major Studio workflows. Minor release notes and routine beta changes will stay out unless they have a clear practical consequence.
