Start with private-server permissions, not reinstalling Roblox.
Make sure the server owner has allowed you or enabled friend access, then check your own Private servers privacy setting. If those are correct, use the server's current link and confirm the server is active and not full.

Check access before connection.
Most private-server failures look the same from the joining player's side. The Join button may fail, a link may open the wrong place, or Roblox may say the account does not have permission. The fastest fix is to identify which access layer is blocking the connection.

Check the server owner's access settings
The owner can allow friends or add individual accounts to a private server. Confirm that your account is included, or that friend access is enabled and both accounts are actually friends. If Roblox gives Error 524, missing permission is one of the first things to check.

Check your own private-server privacy setting
The blocked setting can belong to the person joining, not the server owner. Open Roblox Settings, then Privacy and content restrictions, Visibility & private servers, and Private servers. Make sure your account allows the kind of private-server invitation you are trying to use.
Younger accounts and accounts managed through parental controls may have stricter limits.

Make sure the private server is still active
Paid private servers renew monthly unless the owner cancels them. A canceled server normally remains available until the paid period ends, then expires. Open the game's Servers section and confirm the private server is still listed and active.

Use the current server link
Do not rely on a link copied months ago. The owner should open the private server configuration, copy the current link, and send it directly. Make sure you are signed into the intended Roblox account before opening it.
CHECK 5
Check whether the server is full
A private server still follows the game's server capacity. If the group reaches that limit, another friend may be unable to enter even when permissions are correct. Ask one player to leave, then try again.

Try joining a public server
If you cannot join the game at all, the problem may be device support, account restrictions, a Roblox outage, or a game-specific error instead of the private server. A public-server test separates access problems from broader connection problems.
CHECK 7
Check for game-specific private-server behavior
The game creator decides how private servers work. A server can load correctly while a teleport, reserved match, world selection, or special mode still sends a player somewhere else. If only one game has the problem, check that game's current instructions or community reports.

Owner access → your privacy → active server → fresh link → capacity.
If those five checks pass, test a public server and then look for a game-specific issue. That order avoids changing unrelated settings.
